Always a dancer-around-the-bushes and lover of leaving elephants in the room, I’m having a difficult time introducing you to my beautiful office buddy.
Meet Virginia.
Christy gave Virginia to me (along with the frosting) as a reminder to use my voice (and that there could never be too much frosting).
Virginia is the metaphor for my new health coaching business as well as a deep-seated hangup with gratuitous self-promotion. Knowing that you didn’t sign up for a wellness website when you first joined, I’m still formulating how I will integrate relevant content into my regular blogging. I am open to suggestions and would love if you left me a note below.
For now, I am sharing a link to a fun project that the Health Coach Institute asked me to do. I was so honored and excited when Coline at HCI contacted me. Please head over to their blog, and give them some love–I promise not to make you eat kale or do burpees.
Thank you for being here. xoxoxo

I’m beyond excited for you! I can’t think of anything better suited to your skills, talents and passions than being a health coach. I know you’re going to be successful and make a difference in people’s lives because you’ve been doing that already! Much love to you and I can’t see where this takes you. ❤

Hello, dear friend! Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. I’m still both feet in for my day-job, so I’m taking it slow with this new endeavor….already looking forward to the people I’m going to meet.
How are you?? Girly – we need to catch up!! xoxo

Awesome possum!! How cool to see what’s new in your life, from becoming an empty nester to expanding your horizons with your health and wellness coaching. (The last link in your post didn’t work for me – don’t know if it was my browser or what). Huge congratulations, and I look forward to more!
I envision seeing perhaps a mish mash of new posts that share your newfound wisdom with tips and things to do to enhance wellness, with posts inspired perhaps by the very real struggle to change old/bad behaviors for the new/healthier ones. Honoring the struggle, instead of fighting it. Letting it be heard, so it quiets down.

Hey Susan! As always, I love seeing you here. I also knew you’d have some sound advice on what this could look like moving forward. I like your idea with changing behaviors and honoring the struggle. As you know, wellness goes beyond eating – that’s always been my favorite part of nutrition counseling…looking foward to diving in again.
Thanks for the heads up on the links – they have ALL been glitchy today…after-effects of the blood moon??

Me thinks so! 😉 Your posts about running and gardening and all things inspirational fit right in with wellness. Feels like just branching out a bit more. Adding to the pot some herbs and spice.

Speaking of herbs and spice – I really need some of your soup recipes 😍

Michelle! Such exciting news. Love sweet spunky Virginia, as well as your voice. Not sure what to suggest in the way of integration of your new interests with your existing blog — I’m happy to read whatever you have to say, and I’m always interested in health tips. (My mother was also a registered Dietitian until she retired.)
Had no idea what burpees (other than packets of seeds) were until I googled it, so I’ve already learned something new about health and wellness in your first post. Looking forward to more.

OMG – I adore you, Mary! I didn’t know that your mom was a dietitian! There really aren’t many of us – not always a glamorous job 🙂 Virginia is awesome – Christy just knows what I need, right when I need it. Virginia has brought me common sense more than once.
I’m so happy you know what burpees are now – I have always preferred the packets of seeds over the other. xoxo

Congratulations! Is it worth the effort to set up a new blog for the professional side and leave this one as is?

THAT is the question I continue to ask myself 😂

You certainly have a blogging conundrum, Michelle.
Your current readers (us, me!) click in because we honor the way you shape thoughts on your life. We fit that into ours with your words and photos. Obviously, the commitment to health is a big part of your life. So it does fit right here. We could read right along and take the most from the health pieces.
On the other hand, a health-only blog would direct yourself to a new and energized audience.
Oh, my.
Both, with cross-posting here?

Thank you for your insights, Mark. I do value your opinion – a lot. I’m printing out your comment and putting it into my planner. Cross-posting (maybe with a once/month nod) might be a good avenue. Stay warm today and thank you for being here!!

Wow… you have added an even more awesome aspect to your already awesome life. I am so proud of all you are doing and I am envious of your energy and discipline. Mine is just not there YET (contrary to popular opinion) I am trying harder lately though. I’m off to a good, but slow, start this year with Spring and school. I started an amazing Yoga Fusion class a couple of weeks ago that begins with Tai Chi, then Yoga, Palates and ends with Savasana. I wish I could go every day. But she only teaches M/W evenings (impossible with school) and T/Th mornings when I DO go. I walk on the treadmill 2 miles every other day. I have always loved Yoga but I have been away from the practice for a few years. I have used school and injuries as an excuse. With all of my healthy diet changes and weight loss, it was time for me to start toning. I am only 7 months out from surgery so my body is still recuperating from that as well.
I eat well but I am still trying to incorporate the other habits that will get me where I want to be. I know better than to try and do it all at once. I have already had to drop one of my classes because it was just too much. This pushes graduation off again which is depressing. I feel like I am never going to be done.. I’m slowing down and the age changes I am going through are not making me happy.
I wish I lived closer to you. I know beyond a shadow of doubt we would be close friends! Congratulations on your new venture. I wish you happiness and success always!! ❤

I love how close are are even living where we live ❤️ Look at all the things you’re doing – you rock, lady! You are so self-aware, and know what you need to do to be happy. I am most proud that you gave yourself more time with school — at least with age comes wisdom. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway 😂

I agree!! But can you imagine if we actually got to SEE each other?? I will be in Nashville in March btw… 😉
I fee like I take 3 steps forward and 2 steps back sometimes. I just posted today about how I put things on my plate. It is MY plate after all and only I get to say what is on it. But every once in a while if I don’t pay attention, there are too many things on it and some things fall off, get thrown away or covered up. And sometimes things are wasted because they are not taken care of in a timely fashion (I love my plate analogy) LOL!
That age/wisdom thing should work, but not always. I constantly look back and think.. Lord I wish I knew then what I know now *groan* ❤
