I Assume that the F-Bomb is an Inappropriate Mantra?

Are we done yet?

I taste blood

Wait, am I bleeding?

Jeez! How hot is it in here?

I can’t see

I can’t feel my legs

You want me to put my what where???

I’m all tingly! I can’t breathe!

*Gasp *Coughย

Am I dying?

Bad word! Bad word! Bad word! ^%*(%*$(*%

Did this internal dialogue happen during a twenty-mile training run? Perhaps an intense hour of boxing? A fifty-mile hike?

Nope.

Monday morning hot yoga. It wasn’t pretty, it didn’t feel good, but we made it and now a glorious Monday lays before all of us. We have a choice, you know. Do you let the sweat and hard work make you wanna say bad words OR do you let it slide, take a deep breath, and move on?

I vote for the second option, and it doesn’t have to be all serious. Some days we crawl through the day and laugh at ourselves when we catch a glimpse in the mirror. It’s not pretty and it’s not graceful. But despite the bad hair and smelly pits, we are showing up and doing the work – whatever your work might be.

Sending you off to your week with a laugh (video below) and a reminder to practice self-compassion and kindness. And, if neither of these work…perhaps a well-timed F-bomb is in order.

Instagram theme for the week: Kindness

  1. I love the Angry Yoga gal! Thanks for sharing her here. I can’t believe it’s Monday. With a holiday and no school, it’s a vacation day here. Thinking about the F-bomb, I distinctly remember using it about a week and a half ago, when my physical therapist was working on a knot on my back, and he jammed his thumb or something into the muscle, causing me to grunt, groan, and let out a “muther-fucker.” Namaste Beeoch! Have a kick-ass day!

  2. Ha ha. That picture of the Tinman reminds me of me. I’m probably the most un-limberest (is that a word?) person on the planet. Yoga might actually kill me with those crazy poses. I groan whenever I just try to bend to tie my shoes (ok, maybe I’m not that bad, but age ain’t helping). Good for you for sticking to your Hot Yoga routine though and spewing out positive thoughts after the pain is done. You’re my hero! (Now pass me the oil for my joints)

      1. I have a feeling that you aren’t giving yourself enough credit! It’s the true absence of judgment from the others in class that keeps me coming. Nobody even really pays attention – not even the guys in man-buns ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. It’s all there in the memo. You did get the memo, right?
BTW: if you don’t already follow her, you have got to head over to Christy’s site (Runningonsober) – she has an amazing tribute to Glenn Fry over there today, I know you’d enjoy it.

  3. Lol – All I hear when my daughter and my wife return from their weekly yoga on a Thursday evening is “Is she having a laugh?! I’ll never be able to get my x up there”… etc. They tried to enlist me to go along as there is but one guy in the group. However I know him and his story – his wife ran off with a young Arab guy (20 years younger) in the summer last year whilst they were on holiday in North Africa. I don’t think he is looking for male bonding frankly … ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ll sit at home eating biscuits and watching the tv thanks ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. I love yoga, have been practicing it since I was a teenager (so, yah, I’m pretty bendy), but I say F-that to Hot Yoga! I hate to sweat. I understand the purpose of the heat on tight muscles and all, but, no. Just no.

The videos. Oh, my god. I’m tempted to try Mish’s meditation video when trying to get to sleep, but honestly, I’d be laughing too hard. Thanks for a great pick-me-up!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. LOL! I hear you! It took me at least two years of liking the sound of yoga before actually trying it. Same goes for running ๐Ÿ˜‰
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment. Have a great day!
