A Peek Betwixt The Pages: A Book Reveal by Beth Teliho

Order of Seven is a gritty, fast-paced journey drenched in archaeological mystery and nail-biting suspense. You experience everything up close and personal, real time, along with the main character, intense and mouthy eighteen-year-old Devi Bennett, as  she searches for her biological parents in hopes of better understanding her paranormal ability.

I’m excited to share a sliver of Order of Seven here on Michelle’s beautiful blog today! This has yet to be done anywhere else, but I think you’ll agree with me when I say Michelle’s blog is no ordinary space. She is a beacon of generosity and warmth in these here internets, and I’m thrilled to do this first here.

Allow me to set the stage:

The curtain comes up on  Devi, who’s plating leftover Chinese food in the kitchen of her older brother, Nodin’s, apartment. Awaiting her return to the living room are Nodin and his two best friends, Ben – a karate loving psychic –  and Baron a rock climbing energy healer who’s not hard on the eyes.

I go in the kitchen and begin rummaging through the fridge until I find chicken with broccoli. I scoop some out on a plate and have just put it in the microwave when I hear commotion from the family room.

Nodin has spilled his soda and somehow managed to get it all over Baron’s shirt. The guys are laughing and teasing Nodin about his lack of grace. Nodin tells them to piss off, and comes in the kitchen for paper towels.

I’m filling a glass with fridge water when I hear Ben asking about Baron’s new tattoo. I turn my head so I can see them. Baron has taken his wet shirt off. I’m so distracted, I overfill my glass and water goes all over the floor. I grab a dish towel and wipe it up.

“Dude, that’s a huge back tat,” I hear Ben say.

“Yeah, I got the third part last week,” Baron says. “It took forever. There’s so much detail.”

I fold the dishtowel over the sink. Baron is facing me while Ben inspects his back. I strain to see, but can’t at this angle.

“Lemme see,” Nodin says as he returns to the living room. I lift the water glass to my lips as Baron turns around to show Nodin his tattoo.

Glass shatters around my feet. Shock’s Novocain runs through my veins. Nodin’s eyes are wide with surprise as he looks from the glass at my feet to Baron.

I cannot speak. I cannot move. I cannot breathe.

What I see on Baron’s back nearly brings me to my knees.

    1. Thanks for reading, Dani! I’m a big fan of cliff hangers. It was tough to decide what to share here because if I took from the middle or end of the book, you’d know something before you’re supposed to.

  1. Wow! Sounds terrific, Beth! I’m already picturing a screenplay adaptation…? And yeah, Michelle’s got a wonderful soul that’s apparent in her writing. Plus, she can handle power tools and riding mowers. What’s not to love?

Great seeing you two ladies together here. Or anywhere, actually 😉

    1. We’d be dangerous together, Ned!
How about the both of us with power tools?
Safer than my hubby who had a little incident with a chainsaw last weekend – 9 stitches later and I’m back in charge 🙂
Thanks for always being such a great supporter. I’m looking forward to showcasing your next book on here, too!

      1. Yikes! Give my regards to your husband and his arm. My hat’s off to him; I don’t think I would go that far just to get out of cutting firewood.

And thank YOU for your continued support and thoughtfulness, Michelle 😉

    2. Michelle is bottled hotness. You can’t get much better than beautiful, compassionate, and handy with tools, amirite?

And as far as a screenplay adaptation? your mouth to god’s ears, my friend. 🙂

      1. What was this? Friday. Yeah, best you were gonna get out of me then. I didn’t want to let it go with nothing but I felt shitty about not giving you a bit more, there just wasn’t anything there to give.

You’re doing SO SO WELL at this promotion and publicity stuff. A great excerpt from the book, and a gorgeous platform to share from *waves hi to Michelle (you landed a good one, here – one day you’ll look back and know you ‘knew her before she was famous’)*

FAB stuff, and no less than I’d expect.

    1. awwww, Lizzi, thank you. This was sweet of you to do. I know you’re super excited and supportive – to the moon and stars – you didn’t have to come back to do this, but it is sooooo lovely of you. MWA xoxo
