My fantastically skewed and warped approach to 2014

Happy New Year, friends!

A girl like me can hardly resist the urge to list, categorize and hoard New Year’s resolutions like a crazy squirrel.  In fact, my mom confided that I was born with a label maker and a journal instead of a silver spoon.

In typical January 1 fashion, I sat down this morning with magazines, Pinterest, photo files and the trusty old diary to figure out what I can do bigger, better and more positively in 2014. Hubby watched me cut, paste and toss for about 45 minutes before he finally asked with obligation interest.

” What in the heck are you doing?”

“I’m making a Vision Board.”

“Oh boy, here we go….”

If you lived in our  house, you’d already know that “Oh boy, here we go” is the most common phrase he speaks in response to whatever I’m pursuing at the time. As in, “Hey honey, I’m running the Chicago Marathon,” or “Hey honey, do these jeans make my butt look fat?” and my personal favorite, “Hey Honey, I want a chainsaw for Christmas.”

“Oh boy, here we go….”

Anyhoo. Long story short, the Vision Board is something personal I’m doing to help me visualize what I want 2014 to look like. It’s on a huge foam-back poster board with spots reserved for healthy eating ideas as well as running, yoga and boxing goals. It illustrates my vision of fun things to do to hang with my kids as well as home improvement projects most likely not to end in bodily injury or marital discord.

Before you start calling me a dork, you’ll be happy to know that I won’t bore you with the mundane details. However, in pursuit of “the vision,” I found some stolen awesome quotes and silly cartoons that I thought you might enjoy as well.  What you’ll see below is a gallery of silly quotes, personal pictures and positive images that remind me of YOU. Please feel free to attach your own images and quotes in the comments below or drop me an e-mail at:

Here’s to you, my friends. I just have a feeling that 2014 is going to be better than EVER!

(Oh boy, here we go!)

  1. Loving your attitude BTW! We all need a little inspiration. I spend way more time on Pinterest than I care to admit. I started a new account when I started my blog, and it’s such a time suck. One I have no plans on giving up. I know my issues, I own them. LOL

    1. Pinterest IS a time suck, but I’ve reserved it until right before bed…until hubby comes in and interrupts me 😉 Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings. I’m just getting started on this whole blogging thing. After reading yours (and at the risk of sounding like a stalker groupie), I’m hoping to be a little braver with my 2014 posts. Thanks again!!

  2. Haha I’m so impressed that you made an actual vision board?! I try to act aloof and as though I am above it all but I really do have a weakness for Pinteresty quotes like the ones you attached. And I’m with you on 2014… it just has a magical sort of feeling to it!

    1. I know what you mean. I resisted Pinterest for as long as could and then jumped in with both feet! Love your “magic” take on 2014…that’s EXACTLY what it feels like. Thanks so much for stopping by and reading.

    1. Mine has been a blast to work on! I’ve not put it together, but I have the pieces cut out and the ‘vision’ for the vision in my head. Yours would be awesome!
Thanks for stopping by and reading.
